How many elements should a room radiator have?

Aug. 17, 2020

Do you want to know how many emitting elements the radiator in each room should have? We explain how to do it so that your heating system works in the most efficient way.

How many elements should a room radiator have?
How to calculate the number of elements in 3 steps:

Step 1: You must calculate the total size of the room in square meters. To do this, multiply the width by the length of it.

Step 2: Then multiply the square meters of the room by 120 (oversized calorific factor for greater savings: investment in radiators = lower consumption = savings), obtaining with the operation the necessary Kcal in the room

Step 3: Divide the previous result by 150, which is heat emission or Kcal emitted by a standard aluminum element or 500mm between axles and you will obtain the number of elements that your aluminum radiator needs. EYE! Depending on the distance between axes of the element this will emit more or less heat. As usual:

Distance between axes 350 mm - Thermal emission 115 Kcal.

Distance between axes 500 mm - Thermal emission 150 Kcal.

Distance between axes 600 mm - Thermal emission 180 Kcal.

Distance between axes 700 mm - Thermal emission 200 Kcal.

Distance between axes 800 mm - Thermal emission 230 Kcal.

We must take into account that it is convenient to leave 15 cm above and below the radiator for recirculation in its location

DO NOT FORGET that the more radiator elements the hydraulic circuit has, in less time it will acquire the desired temperature, which translates into less boiler operating time, less fuel used and greater savings.
