With regard to regulations, the latest updates in Spain imply important restrictions when it comes to marketing and installing appliances for the production of domestic hot water by combustion.

Thus, according to the RITE regulation, for thermal installations in buildings in Spain, the installation of more open combustion chamber appliances is not allowed, not even to replace existing damaged heaters.

For its part, the European directive for ecodesign ErP (Energy Related Products), which regulates the ecological design and the minimum requirements of the equipment in relation to efficiency and emissions, requires that the heaters that are introduced in the national market have low NOx emissions (<56 mg / kWh).
