May 7, 2021

Are you not getting enough water in your taps or shower? If so, you will most likely need a pump to increase the water pressure.

Older buildings and single-family homes often have problems with low water pressure. In all cases, it is necessary to increase this pressure to be able to enjoy a good flow of water in the taps and the heating. For this reason we present you which are the pumps to increase the water pressure in my house.

What are the best pumps to increase water pressure

Depending on the season, and especially in summer, water consumption increases. The shower, the pool, watering the garden, cooking or cleaning your vehicle are activities, because of the demand, they can decrease the water pressure in general.

You will be able to easily detect if you need a pump to increase water pressure at home because the main problems you are going to find are not enough water in the shower and in the taps, or that your heater does not turn on due to the few bars of inlet water pressure.

Currently there are all kinds of pumps to increase water pressure, whether it comes from your own well or from the commercial network. We explain the main ones.

But first we want to explain to you that there are 3 types of waters:

- Clean waters: Refers to those waters that are used but are not stagnant or have suspended particles or impurities. They are clear waters such as drinking water.

- Dirty waters: These are those waters with a medium level of impurities. They are wastewater, used, stagnant, from floods or that have particles in suspension.

- Fecal waters: Its impurities are very high and that carries a greater weight due to the particles they contain. They are those coming from septic tanks.

Pressure groups or surface pumps:

Water pumps to increase pressure are known as pressure groups. They are usually installed on the surface and are generally used to automate the water supply in a home, they can also be used to give pressure for an irrigation system. This type of pump can collect water up to 8 meters deep.

Pressure groups for domestic use are usually electric and are equipped with an automatic start-up. Depending on their composition, there are different models, but the most common are those made of stainless steel.

Within this group we also find a type of pressurizing pump that is used to have constant pressure within the system.

Water pumps

Submergible water pump:

Also known as a bilge pump, it is a type of water pump that works in water, such as emptying a swimming pool, a septic tank or deep wells and tanks or dislodging the water from a flooded closed place such as a garage or a basement. It does not require a suction hose and usually does not come supplied with the impulsion hose, necessary to direct the water to the area we want.

These types of water pumps are the most versatile solution to draw water from a minimum depth of 1 centimeter to the deepest areas, that is, areas beyond 8 meters deep.

The added value of these types of pumps is that in addition to raising the water from a well or underground reservoir to a higher height than surface models, they also tend to give a higher flow.

Submersible pumps can be used for all types of water, clean, dirty or fecal. And depending on the use, we must choose one model or another and we must also take into account what type of water we want to reduce, the unevenness to save and the flow and pressure necessary at the outlet.

Water pumps

Circulating pumps:

Circulation pumps or circulating pumps are a type of pumps that are inserted into the heating and DHW circuits, to circulate hot water through them.

Its use is intended for heating installations, domestic hot water or solar thermal energy, the circulation pumps improve the energy efficiency of the system and contribute to saving energy and water. Water circulating pumps are not used to increase the water pressure.

There are different sizes, capacities and usability, depending on your needs
